Jamie vs. CSS

I won! I won!
We went through many rounds and punched each other hard, but in the end I won! Ha! That’ll show it (him? her?).

For now I’m pretty satisfied with the changes. I managed to solve the border problem, the problem being that I wanted a border and there wasn’t one. I also solved the mystery of the background image and actually fumbled around in a php script to make the blogroll look nicer. And I succeeded. Once again: Ha!

I’m not so sure about the background image, so that just might change in the days to come. Unfortunately the one I liked best also had the ability to make you nauseous by staring at it for too long. And since I want all of you to stare at my blog for quite some time I had to try another. Too bad. It was really pretty. And nauseating.

So, here it is now, though I’m not sure if I won’t go changing little things every now and then. So far I’m just happy I won my fight against CSS and PHP (see, it wasn’t even fair!) and I can go to bed happy tonight.

Fighting with Styling

I just had a long and messy fight with the CSS stylesheet of this blog. I love CSS for all it can do and all the prettiness you can achieve when you either have enough time to trial and error the heck out of it or you actually know what you’re doing (unfortunately it’s the former for me).

But right now I just wanted it to look pretty. And fast. The fast was the problem.

The fight is not over, though. Not everything turned out the way I wanted it to be and I have a feeling that the stylesheet is already pretty messed up and chaotic.

Let’s call it a tie for now. Tonight, if I am not melted then, you can all get together for the next round of Jamie vs. CSS. It’s gonna get rough though.

Ta-Da!

I don’t have picture to show you, but I took one this morning and will upload it as soon as I get home.

Anyway, like srah, I was faux-bentoing today. I don’t have my bento box yet, and neither did I have a lot of time this morning, but I finally tried out the onigiri molds with leftover rice and what can I say? This is great. I filled a non-bento box with two onigiris, a sesame honey cracker and a nectarine. It was all improvised and maybe „filled“ isn’t the right word considering that the box looks pretty empty, being far too big for what little food I packed.

I flavored the onigiris with furikake, since I couldn’t come up with anything to actually fill them with.

I’ll be able to tell you after lunch how big a success I think my first faux-bento was. I hope I’ll be just as thrilled then as I am now. And pictures will follow. I promise.

Addicted to Cuteness

I strongly believe that Cute Overload is killing me very very very slowly with cuteness. So if I don’t post anything for a long time, it’s possible that’s what happened.

Good Housewife

This apparently is turning into a food blog. Whatever.

Anyway, a few days ago (Sunday I think) I wanted to make dinner and was pretty much convinced that we didn’t have any food in the house.

I ended up with a stir fry of marinated chicken, baby corn, yellow bell pepper, snow peas, spring onions and omelette served with udon noodles. I don’t know where all the food came from, but suddenly there it was and being a good enough cook to improvise it turned out to be delicious and enough to fill our empty tummies.

I must admit I am kinda proud.

More Bento Madness

I just might be going crazy about this. Yesterday I got my egg molds, so now I won’t ever have to eat an egg that’s not shaped like a bunny or a bear. At least not at home.

I also got my onigiri molds, but our local asia grocery shop doesn’t have umeboshi, so I didn’t get around to making onigiris last night. Besides, I don’t have a box to carry it to work anyway.

By the way, this is what I recently ordered and was shipped yesterday. I hope it gets here soon.

Those are the cups:

Spoons (one of each):

Cooling bag (or whatever you call it), it’s the one on the left with the flowers:

And finally the lunchbox. I don’t even remember exactly, but I think I ordered the green one, since the one I ordered from Jlist was red and I wanted some variety.

I also ordered a little stuffed piggy for our friend’s newborn son. It was too cute, so I couldn’t resist.

Don’t you just love my purchases as much as I do?

Today, 2nd Grade Style

Today nothing happened. I slept. Then I watched TV. Then I read. Then I slept some more.

I woke up and had a headache. So I took some aspirin and ate a nectarine. I took the aspirin because of the headaches and ate the nectarine because I was hungry.

Then I helped write a song. It turned out to be really good and we are both happy.

Then I made dinner. I though we didn’t have anything for dinner at home. Turned out we had enough to make udon noodles with snow peas, chicken, omelette, spring onions, yellow bell pepper and baby corn. I was very proud. I still don’t have my bento box, but there was no leftovers anyway.

Then we watched a movie. It was good. Then I made a podcast. It was good as well. I hope.

Then I talked to Ehle on AIM and watched a music video with David Hasselhoff. It was disturbing.

Then I went to bed.

Pretty amazing day, huh?

Yesterday I finally made real dinner. It has been some time since I last had the patience to actually cook something that involved more than opening a can or box and just heat up.

We had udon noodles with chicken and vegetables (namely snow peas, carrots, baby cornhusks, spring onions and yellow bell pepper) in a coconut-curry-sauce and added cashews. Sounds yummy? Was yummy.

If now I only had my bento box I could have filled it with leftovers. Now as it is, those are for the husband to enjoy.

I now have cute bangs. There’ll be pictures of me looking slightly more French soon.

Damn the Cuteness

There are just those websites I should never have discovered. maedchenkram.de is one of them. I just can’t fight the cuteness.
It’s a German site, the name roughly translates to „Girl’s stuff“, by the way.

Anyway, I doubt you have to speak German to undrestand the damn cuteness involved and slowly taking control of your body, most of all you index finger, which is responsible for eventually hitting on the „Order“ button.

The products they sell are from a Danish company called „Rice“. You can find them on rice.dk.
