There had been this huge change at my company and I was involved a lot, so that’s one reason (and I admit the best one) why I was so stressed out lately. This weekend it all went live and there were so many concerns about what could go wrong that I must say that I pined for today as much as I feared it.
Turns out that we may have been pretty thorough in our preparations because there was nothing major going wrong today. I guess we’ll have to see what happens in the coming days, but it could have been a lot worse, so it’s one lucky and happy me today and I can only hope that it will stay that way.

Come on, hope with me. It’s more fun together. And we can pretend that it works.

I’m at about 10 percent of my nanowrimo words. That makes me hopeful. If you didn’t realize it, I have put the first two chapters up. Just click on the link on the right and it will take you there. You should pay attention to the recommended music, because that’s what I usually write the chapters, too. It helps me getting into a certain atmosphere just how I used music to paint.

Maybe I’ll make it. It doesn’t look too bad right now.

As you may know, I’m often not so happy with my native tongue and like English a lot more.

But there’s at least one good thing with German – or, to be more precise – one flaw in the English language. It’s the fact that the letter „w“ takes three syllables to pronounce in English.
Okay, so we have a three syllable letter, too. In our case it’s the y, which is pronounced „ypsilon“. But then again, we don’t use that letter a lot, whereas the letter „w“ is regularly used in both English and German.

But even that wouldn’t be so bad if it wasn’t for the internet, because „www“? Takes a lot more time to say in English than it does in German. Plus, it sounds better in German. It’s a minor flaw, but at least I found something good in German here.

I recently discovered podcasts.
Damn.

When will I ever have the time to do all the things I want to do – and properly?
I need a sponsor, so that I don’t have to work and can spend all my time reading, playing, writing, watching, listening. Who’s volunteering? Just raise your hand or drop me a mail with your offer. I promise I will dedicate something nice to you.

But – thanks to our neighbors – in the meantime, I’ll have this:

Cute, cute, cute, cute, cute. I’m thrilled every time I hear a bark in the backyard.

I like to go on beyond the white breakers,
where a man can still be free.
Or a woman if you are one.

Beautiful World – Colin Hay

I’m freaking tired, but I want to write at least one paragraph for my novel, so I’m here at the computer staring blankly at the screen. My job sucked all the possible creativity out of me. But something got done and that something might be good. And if I’m really really lucky I don’t have to come in Saturday and/or Sunday. It’s sad how happy that makes me.
Anyway, since I’m so tired, any grammar errors or spelling mistakes must be forgiven. I will get back to my anal old orthography freak once my eyes don’t try to shut without my permission.

Wanna Trade?

I’m participating in Kira’s CD swap. My CDs for the swap are already burned (though not sent out), so I wondered if there is anyone out there who wants one, too. Since it would take me an approcimate 7 minutes to get a package ready, I wouldn’t really mind.

There’s a catch, of course, because you have to send me a CD mix, too. The theme of this swap’s mixes is „Quintessential NOW!“, meaning basically that you should put on everything that right now is on your favorite list and you can’t stop listening to it. It doesn’t matter if you hate it next week or if you feel ashamed, it’s a must now, so it goes on the mix. Mine has at least one song, I should feel pretty ashamed for liking it so much right now, but I’m brave, so it’s on there for everyone to judge.

So, if you’re interested, drop me a line. I know at least two people reading my blog who should be working on their mixes anyway, so why not get one to me, I ask.

I might publish my tracklist here later, but I want to make sure that everyone who’s interested gets his mix first, so as not to spoil the surprise.

2,500 words? Are you aware that’s 5 percent already. But then again, only 27 days to go. I have to keep it up and actually do more to make it, but I’m hopeful. There’s a tiny chance, at least if I get that vacation in late November that I’m so desperately hoping for (and kind of counting on).

I decided to publish my writing results on my blog (see link on the right). That said I’m not the kind of person to take criticism very well. Keep in mind that the main goal is to write the 50,000 words in 30 days, so there’s not a lot of thinking, planning or – I’m laughing at the thought of it – re-reading involved. I make everything up as I go along and – although it seems a little bit cheap to remind you – English is not my native tongue, so extra careful consideration of any critical remarks is strongly advised. Cheering ons and praises are welcomed though.

No Time to Write

1,061 words. Woo-hoo! Although I counted the lyrics I quoted, but bottom line is I made it a little bit further towards the finish line. I’m so proud of myself. Unfortunately it absorbed all my writing time, so that’s it for today.
