The Pronounciation of the „W“

Because I’m a) too lazy and b) have no idea how to give you an idea about how to pronounce the letter „w“ in German, I will send you to this site.
If you scroll down there will be a little red speaker sign, click on it and you’ll here a nice man reciting the German abc for you and you alone. This requires you have Real Player installed.

There are countless other sites, but again with the too lazy, so you should just google them yourselves (I love that google is a verb now).

The pronounciation tips are a little bit off, I think, which shows you that apparently there’s no real way of describing to a native English speaker how to pronounce it. It’s more like „start saying it like ‚vay‘ but cut it off shortly before you actually pronounce the real ‚ay‘ sound, there’s actually no ‚y‘ sound there whatsoever, but it’s not ‚va‘ either…“.

See, how hard one letter can be? Try a whole new language.
