There, Lost, You Did It! I’ll See You Next Week.

WARNING! This thread contains spoilers, so if you haven’t seen Lost’s „Abandoned“ (aka episode 2×06 or The Episode We Are Supposed To Talk About All Year Because Someone Dies) yet, but want to see it somewhen, you better stop reading here.

I have problems picking my favorite character on Lost, because I like all (or nearly) all of them for very different reasons, so it feels hard to compare. They are making it even harder for me giving all those characters their own screen time to evolve and make me like them. So, I think it’s Hurley, because he’s so nice and fun and I always agree with his ideas. So, I think it’s Charley, because he’s cute and has a charming British accent. So, I think it’s Sun, because you gotta love Sun. So, I think it’s Sawyer, because he’s tough, but hot. So, I think it’s Shannon.
I was afraid to watch this episode since I knew they were going to kill off a character, because I can’t think of a single character I would want to do without on this show. Not even Jack and Kate, for that matter. Not even stupid Ana-Lucia, for pete’s sake. They can’t kill anybody off, I need them all!
That said, maybe it’s already clear that I started to love Lost more and more for its characters and its carefully developed relationships. I think they’re doing a great job and I can watch it and not complain about the strange mystery plots (that will probably never be all resolved) or the flashbacks (that they should get over with some time soon), because I like the rest so so much.
During this episode I of course wondered who the hell they were going to kill off. All signs were pointing towards Sawyer which made it damn clear that he was not the one to die. Anyway, the thought that was going through my head the most often was: „If you kill Shannon, Lost, I’ll hate you. I’ll hate you bad.“ The other thought was: „Don’t kill Shannon.“ In between I thought: „Please don’t kill Charley, Claire or Locke. Or Bernard.“ Yes, I care for Rose and Bernard. They really deserve to be together.
So, here’s to you, Lost. I hate you. I hate you bad. You killed Shannon. How could you? The Shannon I loved for her perfect imperfectness. The Shannon I could relate to so much because she was a spoiled brat. This damn island needed a spoiled brat who would eventually take care of a dog and share her food with him at the bonfire and make me cry. Damn you, Lost. Did I mention that I hate you?

So, next episode, have Sayid go after Ana-Lucia. Like I care for her anymore.
